Swaziland
Swaziland is the smallest kingdom in Africa and is completely surrounded by South Africa. You do not come here for the large-scale tourist attractions or the amazing nature. Swaziland (Eswatini) is the land of beautiful nature and population.
From Marlove Cottage you can be in Swaziland in about an hour.
Mbabane is the capital of Swaziland, located about two and a half hours from Marlove Cottage, in itself not much to offer except shopping centers and ATMs. This city is therefore often skipped by the visitors because there is little to experience.
What is worthwhile and nearby is Mantenga Cultural Village.
Matenga Cultural Village is a traditional Swazi village with 16 cabins built in traditional form (beehives) and of traditional materials such as poles, reed, grass, soil and manure. Every hut and place within the village has its own function, such as the kraal where animals can safely spend the night. Matenga is a cultural village, an open-air museum, where the daily life of the traditional Swazi with their customs from around 1850 can be discovered. The village is also called Ligugu Lemaswati: the pride of the Swazi people. The name was given by King Mswati III at the opening of the cultural village.
The village is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The traditional dances are performed daily at 11.15 am and 3.15 pm.
In terms of travel time from Marlove Cottage, you should certainly take into account at least two and a half to three hours.
